Junior CFD Engineer – ANSYS
Job ID: HE0028 - Junior CFD Engineer – ANSYS
Description: We are seeking a Junior CFD Engineer with strong fundamentals in fluid dynamics and hands on experience using ANSYS Fluent or CFX. The role focuses on high quality meshing, robust solver setup, and analysis of flow behaviour within complex engineering geometries. Experience with electrochemical or electrolysis systems is a plus, and exposure to two-phase or multiphase flow modelling will be an added advantage.
Responsibilities:
- Import, clean, and prepare CAD geometries for CFD analysis.
- Convert CAD models into CFD‑ready meshes using ANSYS Meshing, Fluent Meshing, or ICEM CFD.
- Generate structured, unstructured, and hybrid meshes for complex geometries.
- Apply boundary layer inflation, local refinement, and mesh adaptation techniques.
- Evaluate mesh quality (skewness, orthogonality, aspect ratio) and perform mesh‑independence studies.
- Set up and run CFD simulations (laminar and turbulent) using ANSYS Fluent or CFX.
- Select appropriate numerical schemes and monitor solver convergence and stability.
- Analyse simulation results to extract insights on flow distribution, pressure drop, and transport behaviour.
- Collaborate with design and engineering teams to translate CFD findings into design improvements.
- Prepare clear and detailed technical reports documenting simulation setup, assumptions, results, and recommendations.
Required Qualification:
- B.Tech/M.Tech in Mechanical, Chemical, or related engineering fields.
- 1–2 years of hands‑on experience with ANSYS Fluent or CFX.
- Strong meshing skills: structured/unstructured/hybrid meshes, boundary layer inflation, and mesh quality evaluation.
- Good understanding of CFD solver setup, including pressure–velocity coupling (SIMPLE/PISO/Coupled), first/second‑order schemes, and steady/transient simulations.
- Ability to monitor convergence, residuals, and under‑relaxation factors.
- Solid fundamentals in fluid dynamics and transport phenomena.
- Interest and willingness to learn CFD applications in electrochemical or electrolyser systems.
Preferred Qualification:
- Basic understanding of multiphase or two‑phase flow modelling (e.g., VOF, Euler–Euler, mixture models).
- Familiarity with Multiphysics simulations involving flow, heat transfer, and species transport.
- Knowledge of or experience with Python, MATLAB, or journal files for automation and post‑processing.
- Interest in applying advanced CFD techniques to real‑world electrolysis and electrochemical systems.
